Tree Topping

This machine has been designed and built to handle trees that other hedge trimmers can't or won't even try, starting with its specially made saw blade which is 1600mm across and hardened steel. Because of its revolving blade weight, it cuts through most large branches and trees in one slice.

Have just read this post and would like to know more information about fly strike.

We have a few ewes with lambs at foot. I have heard that fly strike is a real problem and would like to know more on how to prevent the ewes and lambs from getting fly strike and what can be used to treat them if they do. This is our first experiment with sheep so can anyone help please.
Cheers

sheepmum-best bet to prevent fly strike is to keep sheep clean esp if they have tails, spray tails with Maggo if cutting or rings keep wool shortish if pos.after summer shearing its a good idea to dip everything with a sprayon or poaron dip check withholding times for animals going to works and have health status certificates with all stock leaving farm for sale.

Well, what a wealth of advice. Very much appreciated. All ewes and lambs are tailed and at this point reasonably clean. We have arranged for a shearer to come and crutch them soon. We will look into dips for after this is done.
Thanks for your help so far. Much appreciated

Ive twice planted grasses along the creek only to have Pukekos pull them up. What scares them away? And HARES! Ive tried the white paint with eggs recently and only a fair result. Do I have to buy a shotgun?

Yes, thank you for the the info. Pest are a problem for us.

In particular, roaming dogs, birds(all kinds).

We have been shooting both. We live beside a large sheep station, so i suspect the dogs come from there, but are easy to pop.

But the problem with birds is the high cost of ammunition. While it is a cost benefit to get a heron with one shell, the same cant be said for sparrows and other small birds. The only thing with them is when they flock, you can get more than one per shot.

I agree with your point about cartridges. Pest control contracts are a good idea, you pay one fee to have a regular inspection/clearup.
